  今天是法国夏令营的第二天

Part1

上午Janek教授⽤问卷形式帮同学们了解枫丹⽩露的研究课题,为大家讲解在枫丹⽩露取⽔的流程和实验要求,枫丹露森林(法语:Forêt de Fontainebleau)是法国巴黎东南部的⼀座森林,因其优美的⽣态环境和特殊的地理条件⽽吸引了许多游客和研究者。

Abdelghan教授把已经结课的微⽣物学拓展了⼀个章节叫microorganism Biodiversity,包含了分辩在枫丹⽩露取得⽔样⾥微⽣物的知识

Part2

当天下午,同学们集体前往位于法国南郊的Synchrotron SOLEIL-法国的第三代同步辐射光源:⼀个⼤型环形同步加速器。 将电⼦加速到接近光速,让它们在磁场中沿弯曲轨道运动,弯曲时电⼦会释放出极亮的光——同步辐射。强度极⾼, 光谱范围⾮常宽(红外到X射线),可⾼度聚焦和调谐其结构组成为:

直线加速器(LINAC)-先把电加速到中等能量

增能回旋加速器(Booster)-把电加速到最终能量(2.75 GeV)

实验站(Beamlines)-光会被送到不同的“实验站”,各站使不同波和聚焦式满科研需求研究所的员热情地为我们讲解了SOLEIL的作原理。加速器内的电束被加速后会产辐射光,频率范围涵盖红外、紫外到X射线,能够满多样的科研需求,适于物理、化学、命科学甚考古学。员还告诉我们,正因为这些特性,同个实验室往往每隔两周就会更换次实验对象。

同学们参观了整个加速器,老师深入浅出的讲解和站内科幻电影般恢弘的装潢让人身临其境,享受了一场科学盛宴。最让印象深刻的是其庞的规模与精巧的结构相得益彰,展现了极与极的完美结合,让由衷感叹现代科学研究的细致与⼿段的先进。 SOLEIL不仅在科研领域具有重要地位,还促进了国际科学合作和技术发展,为科学家们提供了个重要的研究平台。

Part3

Board game!当晚,同学们和法国学⽣⼀起进行游戏互动,大家摩拳擦掌跃跃欲试。整个酒店热闹得空气一点即燃,同学们喧闹欢笑,在来去的游戏互动之间中法友谊快速升温,回去的时候大家脸上都带着念念不舍的笑容。

Today is the second day of our exchange in France

Part 1

In the morning, Professor Janek used a questionnaire to help us understand the research topics related to Fontainebleau and explained the procedure and experimental requirements for collecting water samples there. The Fontainebleau Forest (French: Forêt de Fontainebleau) is located southeast of Paris and is known for its beautiful natural environment and unique geographical features, which attract many visitors and researchers.

Professor Abdelghan added an extra chapter to the completed microbiology course called “Microorganism Biodiversity,” which covered knowledge about identifying microorganisms found in water samples collected from Fontainebleau.


Part 2

In the afternoon, we visited the Synchrotron SOLEIL, located in the southern suburbs of France. It is France’s third-generation synchrotron radiation facility and is a large circular accelerator.

It accelerates electrons to near light speed and forces them to move along curved paths in magnetic fields. As the electrons bend, they emit extremely bright light—synchrotron radiation. This light has very high intensity and an extremely broad spectrum (from infrared to X-rays), and it can be highly focused and tuned.

Its structure includes:

Electron Linear Accelerator (LINAC): initially accelerates electrons to intermediate energy

Booster Synchrotron: increases the electrons to their final energy (2.75GeV)

Beamlines: the light is delivered to different experimental stations, each using different wavelengths and focusing methods to meet research needs

The staff at the facility were enthusiastic and patient in explaining SOLEIL’s working principles to us. The electron beams accelerated inside the accelerator produce radiation spanning frequencies from infrared and ultraviolet to X-rays, meeting a wide range of scientific needs in physics, chemistry, life sciences, and even archaeology. They also told us that because of these versatile properties, the same laboratory often changes its experimental subjects every two weeks.

They gave us a tour of the entire accelerator. What impressed us most was how its massive scale was perfectly matched with its intricate structure, showcasing a remarkable harmony of the large and the small. It truly made us appreciate the detail and advanced techniques of modern scientific research.

SOLEIL not only holds an important position in scientific research but also promotes international scientific collaboration and technological advancement, providing scientists with a vital research platform.


Part 3

Board game! In the evening, we were organized to play board games together with French students. The available games included 6 qui prend! (where you calculate carefully to take fewer bull heads and avoid penalty points), UNO (a well-known classic), and Titan Race (where you play as giant beasts racing through a dangerous arena track, attacking each other, using skills, dodging traps, and aiming to be the first to complete three laps).

Each game was highly playable and easy to pick up, and you could feel the whole hotel filled with noisy but joyful energy. The table playing UNO in particular looked as if they were about to launch a massive protest march right there in France!
