Today is the third day of studying in France. At dawn, as the east turns white, our bus brushes past the silhouette of city buildings and heads towards the Maple White Dew Forest. Today, we will complete a orienteering race and water sampling in this pristine forest. As our distance from the forest gradually shortened, the contours of the oak trees outside the window became denser, and the air began to be filled with the unique moist scent of humus soil. As students majoring in biological sciences, this forest, praised by the Babson School of Painting, is not only a scenery for us, but also a natural scripture waiting to be interpreted.

After entering the forest, the teachers explained in detail the rules and precautions of orienteering competitions, as well as the methods and data requirements for water sampling. Then, we went to different areas of the forest to compete and take water samples according to our previous grouping.

Off road orienteering is more challenging than expected. The maps distributed to us are exquisite and simple, like those incredibly ordinary treasure maps in movies. However, when we personally use a compass to find direction, the slender brown curves on the map suddenly become unfamiliar. The distance shortened by the scale on the map is infinitely enlarged during our journey, and the seemingly short distance consumes a lot of our time and energy. Despite the hardships, we finally found each landmark and provided answers based on the questions on them, successfully completing the mileage check-in.

The sampling work at noon is carried out by the river marked on the map. We cleared the cover of the grass and startled a few damsels, whose cobalt blue wings flickered in the sunlight. At the moment when the sampling bottle was filled with water, the stream immediately condensed water droplets on the glass, and mud mixed with unknown aquatic plants slipped into the bottle. The parameters in the measuring instrument kept jumping, as if they had been given life by this forest - I think tomorrow's sample testing session will be very exciting.

In the afternoon, our bus drove into a modern technology park - YPOSKESI. The orderly walls of YPOSKESI company emit a cold white light in the sunlight, forming a wonderful dialogue of time and space with the ancient forest in the morning.

YPOSKESI is a contract development and manufacturing organization focused on the fields of cell and gene therapy. It is considered a leading gene therapy virus vector CDMO manufacturer in Europe, and its technology and capabilities in virus vector production give it an important market position in the field of gene therapy. The staff who received us had a typical French style rigor. He led us through a futuristic white corridor, with transparent laboratories on both sides where researchers in white coats were operating precision equipment. Every stainless steel tank here is a breathing organism, "his finger lightly touched the control panel, and the 3D display immediately showed real-time metabolic data flow." We are committed to cell and gene therapy

The most shocking thing is undoubtedly the "living library" in the pilot plant - the entire wall of low-temperature storage cabinets, where over 2000 engineering strains sleep in liquid nitrogen. The key that could change the future of life is frozen here. The light spots refracted by the ice crystals in the tube bounce on the snow-white wall, like some kind of Morse code from the future.

On the returning bus in the twilight, the scent of decaying leaves from the forest seemed to linger on my nose, but the lingering smell of alcohol disinfectant on my clothes reminded me that today's study has built an invisible bridge between tree rings and genes.
